CALL FOR SCHOLARSHIP

Submissions

The William & Mary Bill of Rights Journal invites scholarship that provides rigorous analysis of constitutional issues, civil rights, and individual liberties. We welcome original contributions that engage with evolving jurisprudence and the historical foundations of legal rights.

Guidelines

While the Journal does not have strict length requirements, we generally look to publish submissions of approximately 20,000–25,000 words (including footnotes).  Please note that the W&M Bill of Rights Journal does not publish book reviews, nor do we publish student notes by current law students who are not members of the Journal’s staff.

We look forward to receiving and reviewing your future submissions.  Should you have any questions about our submissions process, please feel free to contact the Journal.

Means of Submission

The W&M Bill of Rights Journal welcomes submission via Scholastica or by email.

The Articles Selection Committee is currently considering submissions, both solicited and unsolicited, for Volume 35.

Content of Submission

Prospective authors should forward:

  1. A copy of the manuscript;

  2. A curriculum vitae that details the author’s history of education, employment, and publication,

There is no need to include a cover letter with your submission.

Expedited Review

Authors who wish to request expedited review should do so through Scholastica or via e-mail to The Bill of Rights Journal. Please include the circumstances warranting the request (e.g., receipt of another offer) and a proposed deadline for expedited review. The volume of submissions often precludes granting each request, but the Submissions Committee makes every effort to accommodate requests when possible.
