Membership on BORJ is open to all first-year law students at William & Mary Law School. BORJ extend membership invitations to approximately thirty-five first-year students each year. BORJ requires that all prospective members participate in the Joint Journal writing competition following the completion of their second-semester. If the candidate is a joint degree student, they will participate in the writing competition held in the spring of the year preceding his or her second-to-last year of law school. Students selected for membership on BORJ will receive their invitation during the summer following their participation in the writing competition. Upon acceptance of a membership invitation, the student becomes a staff member. Membership on BORJ is a two-year commitment.
Early in the spring semester, the outgoing Editorial Board members select the Editorial Board for the next volume after all interested second-year staff members have completed the Editorial Board competition.
